It’s official: WA loves entertainment!
The 2017 Live Performance Australia report has shown Western Australia tops the list for entertainment spending at $114 per person – more than the national average of $76. This is despite ticket prices matching that of over states. Contemporary music drew in the biggest crowds, accounting for 936,000 ticket sales worth $91.8 million, closely followed by circus and physical theatre, like Cirque du Soleil’s stunning performance of Toruk. Spending on tickets was up by a third compared with data from 2016, and ticket sales jumped 12 per cent.
And we’ve had a little something to do with those figures! In the first 5years since we opened, live performance ticket sales in WA have increased by almost 50% or 810,000 tickets. We also love that twice the number of ticket sales to our events were purchased from regional WA patrons than there were three years ago.
But we don’t like to rest on our laurels. 2018 is our second biggest year on record with 88 events, and we’re continuing to announce new events weekly. Ranking number seven in the world for our size by Billboard, we’re going from strength to strength!
