The Australian Hotels Association (WA), the leading voice for the hospitality industry in Western Australia, hosted its annual Awards for Excellence on Monday 9th August.
Michael Scott, the General Manager of RAC Arena, the home of live entertainment in WA, was inducted into AHA WA’s Hall of Fame for his life of dedication and service to the hospitality industry and the people of Western Australia.
Mr Scott was presented his award by The Hon. David Templeman MLA, Minister for Tourism, Culture & the Arts along with AHA’s Accommodation Division President Andrew Cairns.
When introducing Michael Scott, Andrew Cairns said, “given his impressive resume it would be safe to say that most Western Australians have enjoyed at least one occasion where this person [Michael Scott] has played an instrumental role in making the event possible.”
Cairns went on to say, “our inductee has led a wonderful team during the most difficult time in the industry’s history and he has placed one of WA’s most important entertainment venues in an excellent position to rebound strongly when borders re-open.”
Mr Scott thanked his family for their support as well as the team at RAC Arena, “they are brilliant at everything I am awful at and that makes an outstandingly balanced team and something I personally very proud of.”
Michael finished his speech noting that there was light at the end of the tunnel for the hospitality industry, “we’re seeing events return in number… We’re certainly looking to 2022 as a bumper year.”
