Raised $57,000 for The Salvation Army
Western Australia’s home of live entertainment, RAC Arena, is thrilled to announce the successful return of their annual charity raffle, which after a two-year hiatus, has raised $57,000 for The Salvation Army.
The Golden Ticket campaign ran over a 6-week period, with participants buying $10 raffle tickets to go in the draw to win one year’s worth of events at RAC Arena. This year’s lucky winner will be able to attend events such as UFC, Michael McIntyre, Rod Stewart and Lewis Capaldi, plus of course the Perth Wildcats and West Coast Fever home games.
Funds raised from the raffle are being donated to the Arena’s long-time community partner, The Salvation Army, providing crisis accommodation for 192 Western Australians currently impacted by homelessness, as well as 1,000 nutritious meals and 400 Christmas hampers for families struggling through the cost-of-living crisis.
Warren Palmer from The Salvation Army says, “We congratulate the winner of the Golden Ticket and will no doubt bring great experiences and memories over the next 12 months. Right now, we see the acute needs being faced by West Australians doing it tough on a variety of levels. Those experiencing financial hardship, homelessness and family violence will be just some of the recipients of support provided through the generosity of the many who purchased tickets and our valued long term partner RAC Arena and Perth Rotary. We simply say, ‘thank you’ on behalf of all who will benefit from the kindness of others.”
RAC Arena general manager Michael Scott said, “We’re so pleased with this year’s Golden Ticket results after the raffle’s two-year hiatus. The Salvation Army play such a vital role in providing for those in need in WA, and we’re proud to be able to help support their work. Congratulations to this year’s winner, Akash, who will soon be making RAC Arena his second home with our full line-up of events.”
This year’s winner, Akash Bisnath, said the win was very unexpected. “I’ve bought raffle tickets from the Arena for several years now, just wanting to support a great cause, never expecting to win. My kids have already told me they want to attend the netball, and we’re sitting down this weekend to plan out our exciting 2023.”
RAC Arena’s Golden Ticket raffle has now raised over $557,000 since the launch of the initiative in 2013. Previous beneficiaries include former community partners, Radio Lollipop and Breast Cancer Care WA.
